Overseas Network December 18th U.S. State Department Special Representative for Ukrainian Affairs Kurt Volcker said recently that Washington does not rule out the need to provide additional deadly weapons to the country when necessary.

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, Volcker said that the US Congress is currently considering the provision of new aid to Uganda into the 2019 budget. In response to a reporter's question, Volcker said: "If necessary, it is not excluded that Ukraine should request additional deadly weapons.

According to reports, in 2018, the United States, Lithuania, the United Kingdom and Canada provided Ukraine with deadly weapons and other military equipment worth more than $40 million.

The Russian side issued several warnings on the US plan to supply weapons to Ukraine, and pointed out that similar measures will only lead to an escalation of the conflict in Donbas. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov has said that the provision of weapons from outside to Ukraine does not help solve the crisis in the Donbass and the implementation of the Minsk Agreement. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin also said that Russia is uneasy about the US plan to supply deadly weapons to Ukraine.

According to media reports, in December last year, the United States announced that it would sell 210 "light javelin" anti-tank missiles to Ukraine for US$47 million. In addition, the United States has allegedly provided the M107A1 sniper rifle to Kiev.
