Original title: The Indian Navy wants to expand its army and compare it with China.

December 4th is the Indian Navy Day.  The Indian Navy held a grand ceremony at the "India Gate" in Mumbai and held a performance in Mumbai Bay to celebrate the festival.  According to the Times of India, on December 3, Indian Navy Commander Sunil Lamba announced at the annual press conference in New Delhi that in the next 10 years, India will further expand its naval equipment scale, creating 56 warships and 6 submarines. .  When he announced the expansion plan, he also said that "China's activities in the Indian Ocean region are becoming more and more active," but "China has an advantage over China's military power in the Indian Ocean."  The media commented that the plan was approved by the Indian government, but the defense budget will become an obstacle to the Indian navy's ambitions.

India may not be an economic powerhouse like China, but it has plans to counter China's expanding strategic footprint in the Indian Ocean." The Times of India reported on the 4th that the Indian Navy currently has 140 warships and 220 warplanes. There are 32 warships under construction to replace old warships and make up for vacancies.  The Indian Navy’s previous goal was to have 212 warships and 458 fighters by 2027, but commented that “this goal requires long-term, dedicated funding, but India’s military spending has not grown in the past five years. ".

On the 3rd, when asked about the "comparison of the strength of the Indian Navy with the Chinese navy", Lamba said that "the Indian Navy will become a world-class navy in 2050."  When talking about Pakistan, which is regarded by the Indian military as another traditional threat, Ramba confidently said that the Indian Navy has an overall advantage in the whole field compared with the Pakistani Navy. For China, "it can be launched with China." Compared with the military strength of the Indian Ocean, India has an advantage, similar to that in the South China Sea, China has an advantage in the balance of military power."

Compared with China, it seems to be the theme of the Indian Navy Day.  According to the Indian Economic Times, at the Navy Day celebrations on the 3rd, when answering local media about "whether the Indian Navy is capable of facing any threat from China in the Indian Ocean region," Indian Rear Admiral Patnagar said in a low-key manner. "The Indian naval construction is based on a mission system and does not target any particular country."  General Singh, the deputy commander of the Eastern War Zone of the Indian Navy, said on the same day that the first "Vicklant" of the two domestic aircraft carriers currently under construction in India will "join the Indian Navy" in 2020.

India’s First Post published on the 4th that “the Indian Navy in the 21st century is becoming a powerful force affecting the Indian Ocean region, and India will remain dominant”.  According to the article, "China is India's main competitor in the region, controlling about 60 submarines and operating in this area. In comparison, India currently has only 14 conventional power submarines - which will lead India to compete. In a backward situation."
