Salt is an essential ingredient in our lives

At present, the average daily salt intake of adults in China is 10.5 grams, while the "Chinese Dietary Guidelines 2016" suggests that it is less than 6 grams. Former China was one of the countries with the highest salt intake in the world. In 2012, the average daily salt intake of people aged 18 years and above in China was 10.5 grams, which was 75% higher than the recommended 6 grams.

Salt can provide us with the amount of sodium the body needs, but it is also very important for the generation of gastric acid, but eating more salt will cause the following situations:

  1. Leading to high blood pressure. Many studies have confirmed that high-salt diets have the effect of raising blood pressure.

  3. Increase the burden on the kidneys. Too much salt, people feel thirsty, need to drink a lot of water to relieve, long-term intake of salt will cause body swelling, increase the burden on the kidneys.
  4. Cause stomach cancer. High concentrations of salt can damage the gastric mucosa and induce gastric cancer.
  5. Susceptible to colds. People who eat more salt are prone to catch cold. Because the high concentration of salt can inhibit the activity of respiratory cells, inhibit their ability to resist disease; at the same time, it can also reduce saliva, reduce bacteriolytic enzymes in the oral cavity, and increase the chance of infection of the upper respiratory tract with viruses and bacteria.
  6. Accelerate the loss of bone calcium. Eat more salt susceptible to osteoporosis.
