Japan’s Coast Guard said on the 16th: “The Korean marine survey vessel invaded Japan’s territorial waters around Shimane Prefecture on the 15th.” The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has protested to the South Korean government in Tokyo and Seoul.

Yan Yiwei stressed: "We asked (South Korea) to suspend the investigation and have taken the necessary measures and applications."

Dokdo is located in the eastern part of the Korean Peninsula. It consists of two small islands in the east and west and dozens of rock reefs around it, with a total area of ??about 0.18 square kilometers. South Korea, North Korea and Japan all claim sovereignty over this island. South Korea has actually controlled Dokdo since 1953 and has placed the island under the jurisdiction of Yuling County in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

In August of this year, the Japanese cabinet approved the 2018 "Defense White Paper", and for 14 consecutive years, it advocated that "Bamboo Island" is Japan's inherent territory. South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Rouguede later responded in a statement that the South Korean side "strongly protested against Japan's "Defense White Paper" repeatedly proposing ridiculous territorial claims on China's inherent territory, Dokdo" and reaffirmed: "According to history, geography and International law, Dokdo belongs to the inherent territory of South Korea, and the Japanese side does not have any influence on our sovereignty over Dokdo.
