According to an earlier report by the Associated Press, the Indonesian Seismological Bureau said that a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's Sulawesi province on the afternoon of the 28th, which triggered a massive tsunami. 

The Associated Press quoted a spokesman for the Indonesian National Disaster Reduction Agency as saying that the earthquake triggered a tsunami that hit Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi, and another city, East Galla. In a local live TV interview, he said that the tsunami had taken away some houses and there were reports of missing people. He said that the communication with the Central Sulawesi area was interrupted, and because the weather was dark, the search and rescue work was blocked.

Agence France-Presse quoted Trio, the head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Department of the Disaster Reduction Agency, as saying that the tsunami had arrived in Palu. Palu is nearly 80 kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake and has a population of around 350,000.

According to News Agency, many earthquakes occurred in the afternoon of the 28th in Indonesia in Central Sulawesi, killing at least one person, injuring 10 people and damaging hundreds of houses. 

According to the website of the Indonesian Meteorological, Climate and Geophysical Bureau, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in Indonesia at 17:02 (18:02 Beijing time). The epicenter was located in the land of Donggara County, Central Sulawesi, with a focal depth of 11 Kilometers.
