According to a report by the Russian Satellite News Agency on September 20, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, after being elected as the president of the Democratic Party on the 20th, announced at the press conference that he planned to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin within the framework of the International Summit before the end of the year.

The report said that Abe said at the press conference: "The next summit will be held in East Asia, the APEC summit, and the G20 summit in Argentina. I look forward to using these opportunities to hold the highest level of talks with the Russian president."

Abe also said that he plans to go to New York to attend the UN General Assembly next week and meet with US President Trump. He will discuss with Trump on bilateral trade issues and will explore the issue of establishing new rules. In addition, Abe is scheduled to visit China in October. He also expressed his desire to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to discuss the North Korean missile and nuclear issue, as well as the Japanese who were kidnapped by North Korea in the 1970s and 1980s.

Abe added: "I want to summarize Japan's post-war foreign policy. In the vast region from the Asia-Pacific region to the Indian Ocean, we will create a new era, establish peace and prosperity, and consolidate our country's dominant position at the center of the world."

The report also mentioned that Abe was once again elected as the president of the Democratic Party on the 20th, which allowed his prime minister to continue until 2021. The election of the Japanese House of Representatives will be held in 2021, resulting in a majority party.
