The US President’s Assistant National Security Assistant Bolton said on the 1st that the United States has drawn up a plan to remove most of North Korea’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile facilities within one year.
In an interview with CBS's "National" TV show on the same day, Bolton said that US Secretary of State Pompeo will hold consultations with the DPRK on the plan in the near future. Bolton said that if the North Korean side makes a strategic decision and is willing to cooperate with the US, the United States can quickly start operations.
Pompeo said on June 13 that he hopes North Korea will take major measures in nuclear disarmament in the next two and a half years.
US President Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore on June 12th. After the meeting, the two sides issued a joint statement saying that they will work hard to "establish a new DPRK-US relationship" and "build a mechanism for lasting stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula." Trump promised to provide security for North Korea, and Kim Jong-un reaffirmed his commitment to "completely denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula." In order to promote the implementation of the outcome of the meeting, the DPRK and the United States will hold high-level government delegation negotiations.
