Trump plans to sign a sanctions law on foreign interference

Reuters quoted sources as saying that US President Trump plans to sign a sanctions order on interference in elections on September 12, the White House declined to comment.

Reuters 9 and Russia reported on the 2nd, the news said that the decree will impose sanctions on foreign individuals and companies suspected of interference by US intelligence agencies through "cyber attacks or other means".

An official who asked not to be named told Reuters: "The government is seeking to establish new cyberspace norms. This is the first step in establishing such boundaries and publicly announcing our response to bad behavior."

The Russian satellite news agency reported on September 12 that the US intelligence agency that accused Russia of interfering in the 2016 US presidential election said that Russia tried to interfere with the upcoming 2018 congressional election.

At present, some Russian individuals and companies are being sanctioned for allegedly intervening in the election. In addition, the US Congress has considered several bills that also stipulate responsibility for such interference. Thus, the legislator wants to force Trump to impose sanctions, because in their view, the US president has not fully exercised his power on this issue.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US Congress are investigating "Russia Intervenes in the US General Election" and Trump's "TongRu Gate". The former head of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, Muller, was appointed as the special prosecutor of the investigation. The Russian side repeatedly refutes the allegations that Russia is attempting to intervene in other countries' elections. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov pointed out that there is no evidence for these accusations.
