How conservative and tough Morrison will be the Prime Minister of Australia will affect China-Australia relations

Original title: Conservative, tough, pragmatic, how will Morrison’s appointment as Prime Minister of Australia affect China-Australia relations?

After the current Australian Prime Minister Turnbull was "forced to the palace", the country's Treasury Secretary Scott Morrison won the first re-election of the ruling Liberal Party in August 24 and will become the new prime minister.

Morrison, who has served as the Minister of Immigration, Social Services and Treasury of Australia, has long-term political experience and is regarded as an ally of Turnbull and a conservative member of the liberal Party.

In September last year, Morrison visited China to attend a conference aimed at strengthening trade and economic ties between China and Australia. He said that Australia and China share common interests in opening up global trade and investment.

But just before winning the party's reelection, Morrison had just acted as the acting secretary of the interior on behalf of the Australian government, announcing the ban on Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE for the 5G mobile network in Australia.

During Turner's tenure, China-Australia relations are rampant. With the coming of Morris, what kind of changes in China-Australia relations will have to be doubtful. In this regard, Xu Xiujun, a researcher at the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the news (www.thepaper.cn) on the 24th that there are some deep-seated problems in China-Australia relations and should not be expected to change in an instant.

Xu Xiujun believes that as a more pragmatic leader, Morrison should ease relations with China, strengthen foreign cooperation, and carry out all-round diplomacy to improve the internal and external environment of Australia's economy.

Once known for its hard immigration policy

According to Australia's Ninth News, Morrison grew up in Bronte in eastern Sydney. His father was a policeman and served on the local council for 16 years. When Morrison was nine years old, he began to distribute his voting cards to his father and gradually began to understand politics.

Conservative, tough, pragmatic, how will Morrison's appointment as Prime Minister of Australia affect China-Australia relations?
