Cage children? The US immigration policy was bombarded by Trump

The U.S. government has forcibly separated thousands of immigrant children from their parents at the US-Mexico border and has caused criticism from the United Nations and people at home and abroad. Some videos and recordings of the latest exposure have brought more details of deaf people into public view. For example, immigrant children are kept in cages and children who do not speak English cry and cry, “Mother!”

In the face of public opinion bombardment, the U.S. government responded on the 18th: It is only in the implementation of its own laws that nothing is wrong.

According to statistics from the US Department of Homeland Security, from April 19 to May 31 this year, 1995 immigrant children on the US-Mexico border were forcibly taken away from their parents. Another statistic from Reuters shows that from October 2016 to February 2018, nearly 1800 illegal immigrant families on the US-Mexico border were forcefully dismantled by the U.S. authorities.

Two statistics show that so far about 4,000 immigrant children have been forcibly removed from their parents by the United States authorities. In order to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants, the US standard operating procedures are: Arrest and proceed with the prosecution of adults suspected of illegal immigration; take away minor children and place them separately.

According to a video taken by the U.S. government, some immigrant children are kept in cages and placed on concrete floors. In addition, a private group released a recording and could hear many children who do not understand English crying and looking for mother or father. If a little girl cries and says, "I want to be a mother! I want to be with my father!"

These videos and audio recordings spread quickly on social media and caused public outrage. Several U.S. lawmakers accused the forced removal of immigrant children "having a nauseating", and five current or former "first ladies" including Melanie Trump and Hillary Clinton have condemned this practice.

On the 18th, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres once again urged the US to stop this kind of law enforcement. Many medical experts worry that the US approach may leave immigrant children "permanent wounds."

In addition, the U.S. authorities have left their hands after migrant children are resettled, and often confess their whereabouts. For example, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services received and placed more than 40,000 immigrant children from the Department of Homeland Security in fiscal year 2017, but later tried to follow-up 7635 children and found that 1475 children were “lost”.
